It all began as a simple idea nearly a decade ago –

when James Wong was pursuing his studies in New Zealand. There, he developed a fondness for quality ginger beer and mulled the idea of one day using Sabah’s spicy ginger to make his own. However, the idea was placed on the backburner and was only revived when his childhood friend, Matthias Liew, partnered with him to work on a recipe. After more than a year of countless experiments, UINAH Ginger Land’s recipe was born.

The Story of Uinah

Proudly Bornean, James and Matthias always have a desire to add value to Borneo’s natural products and not compromising on quality and taste by using only real and natural ingredients harvested sustainably in Sabah.

It all started in 2019 with the launch of UINAH Ginger Land and Roselle Paradise beverages, made from ten-month-old pure ginger produced in the Sabah Tambunan highlands and locally grown roselle herbs. These two products have since received huge support and praise from the market and even featured in many prominent news publications and articles.

By the end of 2021, UINAH will be launching several new exciting products, including 100% natural top quality pure UINAH Old Ginger Powder, as well as pure active UINAH Wild Honey, UINAH Tropical Honey and Malaysia’s national treasure, UINAH Kelulut Honey (stingless bee honey) that is renowned worldwide as a healthy superfood
